Master data¶
Master data describes who, what, and where will be planned. The same records are reused by sales, inventory, production, transportation, and plans.
Available records¶
- Materials: products, components, and other plannable items.
- Locations: plants, distribution centers, stores, customers, and other network nodes.
- Planning characteristics: governed classifications for materials, locations, and material-location combinations.
- Units of Measure: quantity codes and conversions.
- Prices: price lists and standard material-location gross and net values.
- COGS: cost lists and standard material-location unit cost of the material sold.
- Production costs: fixed, run, routing, and shift costs that value manufacturing choices.
- Logistics and location costs: fixed, storage, handling, transfer, and tax costs generated across the network.
- Transportation network: lanes, routes, eligible materials, capacities, and costs between locations.
- Bills of material and production versions: components and valid alternatives for producing a material.
- Production resources and routings: lines, cells, shifts, capacities, and manufacturing processes.
A transactional row references these identifiers instead of repeating every product or location attribute. Load materials and locations before the history and plans that use them.
Continue to transactional data to see how these records appear in sales, inventory, and orders.
Continue to the economic decision data model to see how prices, COGS, production costs, and logistics costs value the physical plan without losing the source of each economic consequence.
