Bill of materials components¶
A BOM component is an input material consumed by a bill of materials. The component quantity is stated for the output quantity defined in its BOM header.
The component creates the dependency between the output material and its input material. When the output is planned, that relationship converts the produced volume into a component requirement.

Grain and fields¶
One row identifies one component in one BOM.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
Bill of Materials Id |
BOM that consumes the component. |
Component Material Id |
Input material consumed. |
Component Material Quantity Unit of Measure Id |
Unit used for consumption. |
Component Material Quantity |
Consumption for the BOM output quantity. |
The BOM and component material must exist before the component is loaded. Consumption is technical: it is neither a cost nor a commercial rate. Its unit must be convertible for planning.
No component is required when production must not generate material dependencies. In that case, keep the BOM header and leave this record empty.
