8. Configure the commercial collaboration view

A view defines who plans, which data scope opens, and which key figures can be changed. In this tutorial, collaboration uses the functional demand.planner account rather than the technical DEBUG account.

Community Edition collaboration design

Element Decision
User demand.planner
View Brazil Macro-region — Commercial Collaboration
Unit TON
Visible history 12 periods
Scope REGION_EAST_DIRECT and REGION_EAST_INDIRECT
Save in batch enabled by keeping Auto-submit changes off

Sales, Marketing, and Finance may participate in governing the same number, but Community Edition does not persist a separate audited series for each area. The safe design protects the Baseline and uses one Demand Adjustment measure for the agreed decision.

1. Open User Views

Hover over Admin and open Access and Views > User Views.

Admin menu with User Views highlighted

Action to perform

Select Demand Planning Book, choose demand.planner, and create the Brazil Macro-region — Commercial Collaboration view.

2. Set the general parameters

Select TON, enter 12 historical periods, and keep Auto-submit changes off. Edited cells then remain pending until the explicit Save in batch action.

Save in batch is not one atomic transaction

The action groups the pending cells, but the result is reconciled one cell at a time. If a change fails, read the response, correct the data, and resubmit only what remains pending.

3. Check the key figures

Community Edition fixes their order and editability:

  1. Direct Demand — editable;
  2. Baseline — read-only, preserving the statistical reference;
  3. Demand Adjustment — editable for the collaborative decision.

Direct Demand, Baseline, and Demand Adjustment highlighted

Action to perform

Confirm that Baseline keeps Allow Changes off and that Demand Adjustment is enabled. Do not create one key figure per business area in this tutorial.

4. Restrict the view to the East macro-region

Under Location Aggregation and Filters > Location IDs, keep only:

  • REGION_EAST_DIRECT;
  • REGION_EAST_INDIRECT.

The two East-region locations highlighted

This scope represents one macro-region through two explicit locations. Characteristic-based grouping is shown as locked because it is a Pro capability; therefore, this filter is not described as hierarchical grouping.

5. Save and validate

Action to perform

Click Save View. Reopen the view and check TON, 12 periods, Auto-submit off, the three key figures, and exactly two locations.

Completion criterion

The view is ready when its summary shows 2 location filters and the functional user can select it in the Planning Book.

Return to the persisted Demand Plan, or continue with collaboration and adjustments.
