Bills of materials¶
A bill of materials (BOM), or lista técnica, is the header of a production recipe. It defines the material and quantity produced at a location. The materials consumed by that recipe are registered separately as BOM components.
The header identifies the production alternative and is required for the BOM to be linked in a production version. Components, on the other hand, model that alternative's material dependencies.
Path in the platform¶
Data > Data Operations > Master Data > Production Master Data > Bill of Materials > Bill of Materials
Grain and fields¶
One row identifies one BOM.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
Bill of Materials Id |
Stable BOM identifier. |
Description |
Name recognized for the production recipe. |
Location Id |
Location where the BOM is valid. |
Output Material Id |
Material produced by the recipe. |
Output Quantity |
Quantity produced by the BOM. |
Output Unit of Measure Id |
Unit of the output quantity. |
Priority |
Preference order; lower values are preferred. |
Active (true/false or 1/0) |
Whether the BOM can be used by planning. |
Bill of Materials can be used without production version |
Whether the BOM can be planned without a production-version link. |
Load the BOM header before its components. Link it to a routing in a production version when the production alternative requires both structures.
Bill of material and material dependencies¶
Each component states which input material is needed and in which quantity to produce the output defined in the header. The BOM therefore converts planned output into requirements for component materials and lets the platform propagate those dependencies.
Produce without modelling dependencies
When material consumption or the dependency chain for a material is not to be represented, load only the BOM header and do not load components. The productive alternative still needs that header to be used in a production version, but the plan creates no input-material requirements or explosion.
